William Martindale Wynn Wescott
This year, 2008, marks the 125th anniversary of the publication of the first edition of the book that was to become the present day Martindale: The Complete Drug Reference and to mark the occasion, the publishers have produced this reproduction of The Extra Pharmacopoeia by William Martindale and Wynn Westcott. There can be few pharmacists or pharmacy students who do not immediately recognize the name 'Martindale' and associate it with the authoritative drug reference work published by the Pharmaceutical Press, an imprint of RPS Publishing, the publishing organisation of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain. It is an honor bestowed upon very few publications that they are affectionately known solely by the author's name and fewer still can claim to have been continuously published regularly in new editions for over a hundred years. |
